This series takes a walk through centuries of Italian history & culture alongside four Italian painters in four evenings.

Each episode will have the artist's presentation & historical-cultural context, the analysis of the painter's artwork, media support & curiosities.

THE ITALIAN PAINTERS' PROGRAM

1. June 16th - GIOTTO

Giotto, the most important Italian painter of the 14th century, has been revered as the father of European painting & the first of the great Italian masters. He was ahead of his time & a big innovator.

2. June 23rd - CARAVAGGIO

Between myths & reality, Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, is a very famous & controversial Italian painter.

His use of chiaroscuro, extreme contrasts of light & dark to emphasize details & expression, and his intense & unsettling realism are just two aspects of his late 16th & 17th centuries' amazing artworks.

3. July 7th - DE CHIRICO

Before World War I, De Chirico founded the scuola metafisica, art movement, which even influenced surrealism.

His pioneer vision led to gorgeous, symbolic & eerie paintings. And, this style is still directly influencing artists worldwide after more than a century.

4. July 14th - BALLA

Giacomo Balla is an Italian painter, poet & one of the founders of the Futurism movement, il Futurismo. Light, color, movement & speed were the core of his art, not violence & machines like other futurists. Balla's inspiration was modern life & society and, thanks to many travels, his unique taste is appreciated everywhere.
